Inspiration for a book!

Hello reader,

I'd like to start off by introducing myself. My name is Bianca Aurelia Abreu Salinas. Thank you for taking the time to visit and support an inspired soul on her journey in authorship. I can't believe it took me so long to build the courage to take this leap. What helped push me forward was my son. Looking at him everyday made me feel like I could do anything! Most of all, I want him to be proud of his momma just like I am proud of him. I want to leave him something he can go to when I am no longer around. A legacy for our little family.

I wrote my first children's book back in 2016. I was inspired by a wonderful woman I admire. Her unwavering support and guidance during a challenging period of my life, juggling work and school, left a lasting impression on me. In a heartfelt gesture to express my gratitude, I decided to channel my appreciation into a tangible form - a book! Isn't that how all children's books come about? We make them for people we care about. We all have a creative spark in us that ignites around those we feel safe enough to be ourselves. We all express this differently. Some people cook delicious food, paint, or sing! There are so many ways to show our love and appreciation. I'm glad I'm able to share my love and appreciation in this way.

My first book came out on February 27, 2024, and it really was a labor of love. I learned all I could about the publishing industry, from publishing programs to finding the right team. I am curious by nature and this was a thread I couldn't stop pulling. It also helped yank me out of a gloomy time in my life. I had to resign from teaching, which was basically my identity, because of pregnancy complications. I had worked since I was a teen and didnt know how to sit still. It took a lot to get grounded, but when I did, Whimsy Shelf was created. I finally had a creative outlet where I could be myself and feel empowered again.

On the Way Home is a universal story, even though it takes place in a small village named Buaco, in Nicaragua. When I was younger, I spent a lot of time traveling through Central America, especially Nicaragua. So I felt equipped to tell the story of the women who inspired the book. Every time I read it aloud in my classroom, there were always connections made. Reading together really helped make us a community. I now read aloud at home to enjoy quality time with my little community. I hope that children and adults everywhere can connect with my books and find enjoyment in the quality time they share.

Thanks for stopping by!
